Description

This is an 18th-century front applied to an older house. It is a tall, three-story stone house with five windows. The front elevation is rendered, and the building features brick chimneys. The windows are sash windows with late glazing, and the ground floor windows have raised surrounds. A central entrance is framed by a two-leaf beaded door with a rectangular window above. An attic light is set into the south-east gable. The rear of the house has two central windows with decorative stone dressings, along with blocked openings on the right side and a central door. A lintel above one window is inscribed "1641" over "xRDxIDx". Numbers 45 to 49 (the odd numbers) together with Giles Place (Nos 1 to 5) and Holy Island House and Holy Island Cottage form a group of buildings of local interest.
