Description

The grotto, located 100 metres south of Bebside North Farm, is likely from the 18th century. It features rustic masonry made of large, undressed blocks, primarily of Magnesian limestone, with squared stonework at the back of the recesses. The structure consists of a long, thick wall that has three recesses, with the central recess being taller and having a roughly pointed head. This grotto was originally a garden feature linked to Bebside Old Hall, which was demolished in the mid-19th century.
