Description
The grotto, likely built in the mid-18th century, is a square stone structure set into the northeast garden wall of Manor Farm. It features an arched opening with rough voussoirs that faces into the garden. The grotto is primarily constructed from tufa blocks and has rough coping on the edges. Inside, there is a transverse barrel vault made of cut stone, a large ashlar niche in the rear wall, and a blocked doorway with a rough arched head on the right side. The floor is made of stone flags. This grotto is part of the works associated with Widcombe Manor.
