Description
The Crag is a farmhouse with an attached farmbuilding, likely dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The attached farmbuilding was added in the mid-19th century. The structure is built of random rubble with a boulder plinth, and dressed stone is used for the farmbuilding and openings.
The farmhouse, located on the left, is two storeys high and has three bays, with a later projection to the left rear and an outshut that partly fills the angle. It features massive quoins on the right gable wall, while the left gable wall has been rebuilt. A late 19th-century hipped-roof porch is positioned in the center. The windows are C20 casements set in surrounds with a central horizontal stone on each jamb and very slight chamfers.
To the right, there is a slightly projecting, windowless, castellated screen wall that has a higher turret feature on the right and another turret on the left, which projects on a double quadrant-moulded corbel. In the center of this wall, there is a blank shield with a lion's head above. The farmhouse has a gabled roof with flat coping and two corniced stone gable stacks. The castellated extension has a roof that is hipped on the right. There is a single-storey addition to the left that is not of special interest.
