Description

Cherry Trees is a bastle house, originally dating to the late 16th or early 17th century, and subsequently converted into a house. An outshut was added to the rear in the 18th century and extended to a first floor in the 19th century. Most of the windows were inserted in the 19th century. The house has massive walls of random rubble, 4 feet thick, and a Welsh slate roof. It measures approximately 31 feet by 21 feet. The front elevation features one 2-light mullioned window and one sash window on the ground floor, with two sashes above. On the left return side, the original relieving arch over the door is 30 inches wide, now with a 20th-century lintel. The gabled roof has flat coping and two stone gable stacks.
