Description

The Seed House, located south-west of Blagdon Hall Stables, is an early 19th-century outbuilding that incorporates two small 18th-century structures. It is constructed of squared stone with tooled or tooled-and-margined dressings and features a Lakeland slate roof, with Welsh slates on the rear. The 18th-century parts exhibit a Gothick style. The south elevation is one storey high and consists of three bays. The end bays are separate structures, each featuring a renewed 12-pane window set in an ogee-headed opening, while the later central bay has a 12-pane Yorkshire sash window. The building has coped gables, and the returns on each side display blocked windows with a 4-centred head. To the right, a wall with low gabled coping connects to the former kitchen wing of the Hall, and there is a gateway near the right end that includes a 20th-century ornamental wrought-iron gate.
