Description

Villa Rose is a kitchen wing, now serving as a house and garages, likely built in 1791 by James Wyatt. The building features a distinctive L-plan and is constructed with tooled ashlar on the south and east elevations of the south range, while other parts are made of tooled-and-margined stone, topped with a Lakeland slate roof.

The south elevation includes a plinth, a first-floor band, and a moulded eaves cornice on the south range. Notably, the end of the south range displays a blind round arch behind a 20th-century pentaconservatory, with a Diocletian window positioned above. The west range, set back to the left, features two 12-pane sash windows, with three larger similar windows above, all under hipped roofs. The right return of the south range, facing the courtyard, presents a fielded-panel door to the left of a four-bay blind arcade, which has later openings inserted. To the left, a lower arcaded wall connects Villa Rose to Blagdon Hall.
