Description

The following buildings shall be added:-

STANNINGTON BLAGDON NZ 2177 13/60 Terrace and walk with ornamental features to south and west of Blagdon Hall GV II

Paved terraces, gates and gatepiers, dwarf walls, urns, statues, steps, balustrade and obelisks. Part of Sir Edwin Lutyen's garden scheme, 1926-1938. Cut stone, brick lead and iron. At east end circular gatepiers with fluted caps hold wrought-iron double gates with spike standards, fronted by patterned pavement bounded by outer pier with ball finial and domed glinter. Terrace continues westward. Dwarf walls link central section of house to 2 classical lead urns on panelled stone plinths. Steps with side walls lead down to terrace with radial brick-paved sections. Similar steps to lower terrace ending in pair of obelisks with balustrade between and flanking steps. Carved shell on external wall face below balustrade.
