Description
The farm buildings located to the north-east of Twizell Farmhouse date from the mid-18th century and consist of shelter sheds, a stable, and a store. They are constructed from squared stone and feature a pantile roof on the main part of the east range, with Welsh slates used for the eaves and on the other buildings. The layout is L-shaped, with the main range on the east side of the yard. To the left, there is a shelter shed with three elliptical arches, and to the right, a stable that has a blocked door and stone-surround windows. The far right section has two stable doors, and all gables are coped.
On the north side of the yard, the storehouse has a 20th-century cart entrance, a boarded door on the left return, and coped gables. The rear elevation of the east range features a stable door and slit vents. These buildings are part of an early planned foldyard group, and the storehouse is included for its group value.
