Description

Selby House Farmhouse, along with an adjacent outbuilding, dates primarily to the 19th century, although incorporating fabric from a 17th-century structure at the rear. The outbuilding to the south is a separate house dating from around 1700. The main farmhouse has a front of carefully-worked squared stone, with an outbuilding of squared stone with decorative details, both having rubble at the rear. Both buildings are roofed with slate.

The main farmhouse is two storeys high and has three plus one bays. It features rusticated quoins and a sill band on the first floor. The three-bay section is symmetrical, with a nine-panel front door and a four-pane transom light, all within a raised stone surround. Sixteen-pane sash windows are present, with slightly projecting sills to the ground floor. The outbuilding set back to the right is two storeys low and has three irregular bays. It features a blocked door with a chamfered raised stone surround and two first-floor windows, likely originally mullioned, also with similar surrounds.

The rear elevation of the farmhouse incorporates an outshut, which is part of the 17th-century house. Fenestration is irregular, including two two-light mullioned windows with raised stone surrounds and old iron bars. A small, later rear wing is not particularly significant. The outbuilding to the left displays a blocked door to the right of the centre, alongside windows with raised and chamfered stone surrounds.
