Description
The bridge over Halgut Burn, located in the grounds of Hexham House, dates back to the 13th century, with a crenellated parapet and overbuilding added in the mid-19th century. It features four ribs of a 18th-century arch, which is set back approximately 10 feet by a 19th-century pointed arch. The wall to the Sele is raised above the arch and includes blind merlons, flanking lancets, and is topped with crenellations over a modillion cornice. The side piers of the parapet are also crenellated.
