Description
The covered reservoir located 100 metres north of Rennington West Farmhouse was built in 1861 for the Duke of Northumberland. It is constructed of brick with cut sandstone dressings, and the roofing material is concealed by grass. The visible part of the structure features a low gable end with three stone steps leading down to a central segmental-arched opening that contains a doorway. This doorway is adorned with heavy ornamental hinges that incorporate the Percy crescent design. Above the opening, there is a datestone from 1861, also featuring the Percy crescent, and the gable is flat-coped. Inside, the reservoir chamber includes a transverse wall and a segmental brick vault.
