Description
The Pigeoncote at Manor Farm, dated 1832, was built for the Duke of Northumberland. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has one bay. It has an ashlar plinth and quoins with herringbone tooling and draughted margins. There is a moulded sill band on the first floor.
The main elevation faces north-west and includes a ground floor board stable door set in an ashlar surround with a hoodmould above it. Above the door is a recessed ashlar plaque inscribed "TR". There is a shuttered vent on the first floor, also in a chamfered ashlar surround. The hipped roof is covered with lead over the hips and features a timber glover that was formerly topped with a ball finial.
On the south-west side, there is an imitation board door in a matching surround and a first-floor vent similar to the one on the main elevation. The other two sides also have first-floor vents. Inside, the walls are lined with brick, creating nest boxes on the first floor. This building is a charming feature that reflects the status of the farm complex.
