Description
This is a milepost located 180 metres north of Framlington Gate, likely dating from the early 20th century and made by Smith Paterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white and black. The milepost features a shield-shaped plaque that displays the distances to Cornhill (31 miles) and Morpeth (13 miles), mounted on a circular shaft that is partly set into the grass verge. The current height of the milepost is 0.4 metres.
