Description
This pair of boundary stones, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, is located on the Cartington and Longframlington parish boundary. They are made of cut sandstone and feature well-crafted rectangular pillars with segmental tops, standing at heights of 0.60 and 0.75 metres. The south stone is marked with an incised letter 'R', which may refer to Rothbury, while the north stone has an incised letter 'F', possibly indicating Framlington.
A series of additional stones that once extended westward have been destroyed due to recent tree planting. Beyond this afforested area, more stones along the Cartington and Longframlington and Edlingham and Longframlington boundaries are listed under the former parishes.
