Description
The Old Mill at Linnel Dene is a house that was originally a fulling mill, dating from the 17th century, with a remodel and an outbuilding added in the late 18th to early 19th century. The east gable end was rebuilt around 1980. The structure is made of rubble with roughly-shaped quoins and some dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof.
The south elevation features two storeys and an irregular arrangement of two plus two bays. The house on the right has a central boarded door with broadly-chamfered jambs and a later lintel, a small window to the left, and a fixed 9-pane casement to the right. There is a low blocked opening to the lower left, with Yorkshire sashes; the left has a 16-pane window and the right has a 12-pane window. At the right end, there is a rebuilt stone stack. The outbuilding has a boarded door with a tooled-and-margined lintel.
