Description
The Old Windmill, located 700 meters southwest of the Plessey Checks roundabout, is a windmill tower dating from 1749, featuring the initials M W (Matthew White) on the lintel of the south door. It is constructed of high-quality squared stone and has a straight-sided round tower with no external divisions between the three floor levels. The structure includes a chamfered plinth, opposed doorways on the ground floor, and three small windows on each upper floor, all set within chamfered surrounds. Inside, there are two plain first-floor fireplaces and various sockets for floor beams and machinery. The windmill's shell remains intact, but it lacks a roof and floors.
