Description

The Old Windmill near Bank Hall is a brick windmill, dated 1741, which has been altered and is now used as a house. The brick is covered with white painted render, and it features a wooden cap. The structure has a circular plan that tapers as it rises, with three storeys. Modern gabled doors and windows are set within what are possibly the original openings. A datestone inscribed "1741" is located above the door on the north-west side. The octagonal cap has projecting eaves, a pitched apex, and a cruciform iron plate on the north-west side, where sails would have been fitted (they are now missing). A brick chimney is situated at the rear. A single-storey link addition on the north side is not part of the listing.
