Description
1 Hope Terrace and 5 South Street is an early 19th-century building that stands two storeys tall. The west side features two windows, while the north side has three. The structure is made of ashlar stone and includes a first-floor cill band with a cable roll underneath, as well as a moulded eaves cornice with a moulded cast iron gutter. The roof is slate, hipped at the corner, and has three ridge chimneys. The north-facing windows are glazing bar sash windows with moulded architraves and moulded cills. The west front is adorned with pilasters supporting window pediments on the first floor, and flat pediments with an etched frieze design on the ground floor. The entrance features an Ionic doorcase with an entablature and a blocking course topped with an inverted scroll panel.
