Description

The farm buildings and cottages located approximately 60 yards north of Newlands House date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. These structures include shelter sheds with a granary above, a former threshing barn, a dovecote, byres, stables, and cottages. They are constructed from dressed stone and topped with Welsh slate roofs, forming an E-plan layout.

The long rear range of shelter sheds features four segmental arches on both the left and right sides of a projecting central range, with half-shuttered windows above. At the center, there is a two-storey dovecote that has a boarded door on the ground floor, a quatrefoil window, and two sets of pigeon holes above, all capped by a pyramidal roof. Attached to this is a single-storey byre.

To the left, there is an L-plan range that includes byres, a barn, and stables, which have irregular openings with boarded doors and shuttered windows. The roofs are gabled and hipped, with reverse-stepped coping on the gables. Inside the barn, much of the machinery from the water thresher remains, although the wheel is missing.

The cottages and forge are located in the wing to the right. The two-storey cottages feature boarded doors and 12-pane sash windows, with several first-floor windows having been altered. The forge has a stable-type door and half-slatted windows, topped with a hipped roof.
