BRINKBURN B 6334 NZ 19 NW (North side) 10/65 Pauperhaugh Post Office with adjacent old smithy II

Cottage and smithy. Cottage probably early C18, remodelled in mid-C19; smithy probably mid C19. Rubble with cut dressings; Welsh slate roof. Cottage 1 storey and attic, 2 bays with slightly-lower 3-bay smithy to right. Cottage has central boarded door between 16-pane casements, earlier blocked window below eaves on right. Coped gables; ridge stack. Left return shows 16-pane casement and renewed attic window. Smithy shows baorded door on right and windows with blacksmith's glazing; coped gable on right. Right return shows boarded window. All openings in chamfered alternating-block surrounds.
