Description

Smithy Cottage is a cottage and former smithy, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from uncoursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof with an integral end stack on the left, which has dripstones and a brick capping. The building has two storeys and four windows, including those above the smithy on the right, which are near flush frame 19th-century casements. There is a plain boarded door located under the second window from the left, providing access to the smithy, and a stable-type door to the right. A former horses' entrance in a slightly later rubblestone addition to the right has been blocked. To the left of the cottage, there is a single-storey mid-19th-century addition. The smithy itself does not retain any equipment.
