Description
Walkmill Cottage and the attached cowhouse are a farmhouse and cowhouse located in Wentnor. The farmhouse likely dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble, with the front rendered, and features a slate roof with an integral end stack. The building has two storeys, with one window on each side of a central door that is sheltered by a 20th-century timber porch. The windows are 19th-century casements, with two and three lights. Inside, the farmhouse retains heavy beams and joists, along with light timber framing in one of the ground floor cross walls. The attached cowhouse, situated to the south, is probably from the early 19th century and is also made of uncoursed limestone rubble, topped with a lower slate roof. It includes a hayloft above, indicated by ventilation holes, and has an entrance at the rear. The interior of the cowhouse features 19th-century cowstalls.
