CORBRIDGE AYDON (North side) NZ 0066 19/105 Garden walls, gate piers and privy, to south and west of Aydon South Farmhouse

GV II

Garden walls, C18 probably incorporating earlier fabric. Coursed roughly-squared stone, with cut stone piers and dressings. C20 metal pent roof on privy. South wall has flat coping, ramped up on either side of square piers on stepped bases, with low pyramidal caps; to east the wall links to piers with moulded pyramidal caps flanking yard entrance, to west it is ramped up twice to link with tall west wall. VR postbox set in west end of south wall. Boarded doors at north end of west wall and 2 in north wall, the western, with 5-pane overlight, to contemporary privy. North wall links to north-west corner of farmhouse (q.v.).
