Description

The wall and gateway attached to the east of Horncliffe House is a Grade II listed structure built around 1800 for William Alder Esq. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a high wall with a tall carriage arch at the center. This arch is flanked by broad rusticated pilasters and has a round, keyed, rusticated design supported by scrolled brackets. Above the arch is a pediment that bears a worn coat of arms and is flanked by ball finials.
