Description
Thorntonpark Farmhouse is a house built around 1830 for the Lord Crewe Estates. It features tooled-and-margined ashlar stonework and has a Welsh slate roof. The building has a double-pile plan with a projecting service wing at the rear. It stands two storeys tall, plus attics, and has three bays.
There are four steps leading up to a central six-panel door, which is topped by a three-pane overlight. The original twelve-pane sash windows have sill bands. The stone guttering is chamfered and supported by closely set small curved stone brackets. The roof is gabled with flat coping, and there are corniced stacks at each end.
At the rear, there is a round-headed stair window featuring intersecting glazing bars.
