Description
The lodge to Horncliffe House was built around 1800 for William Alder Esquire. It features rusticated ashlar stone and a roof made of Lakeland slate. The building is designed in an L-shape and is a single storey. On the left side, there is a canted projection with three sash windows, and the rustication above these windows breaks to form triple keystones. To the right, in the re-entrant angle, there is a porch that was formerly open and had a rusticated pier; it now contains a six-panel door. The lodge also has a dentilled cornice and projecting eaves, along with a hipped roof that includes a banded ridge stack.
