Description

The walled garden and well, located approximately 300 yards south of Berrington House, date from the medieval period to the 18th century. The garden is large, measuring around 100 yards by 80 yards, and features a projection at the southeast corner. The walls, which stand about 10 feet high, are made of random rubble, dressed stone, ashlar, and old brick, reflecting various construction periods.

The north and east sides of the garden have 18th-century doors with chamfered surrounds. The south wall incorporates numerous architectural fragments, including fireplaces and doors with moulded surrounds, which are believed to be remnants from an earlier manor house. One entire wall and gable end remain at full height, featuring a Venetian window in the gable.

In the southwest corner of the garden, there is a garden shed constructed of ashlar, topped with a moulded cornice and a pyramidal Scottish slate roof. Near the south wall, a circular well is lined with dressed stone.
