Description

The Vardy headstone, located approximately 15 yards west of the Church of St. Bartholomew in Whittingham Village, dates back to 1734 and commemorates Margaret Vardy, with later dates also inscribed. This headstone is made of sandstone and stands about 3 feet high. It features an arched top that is intricately carved with an angel. The reverse side of the headstone displays a well-carved memento mori.
