Description

This milestone, located 230 metres east of High Brunton, is likely from around 1757, which is the date the turnpike opened. It is made of sandstone and was previously painted white. The stone has a segmental top and stands 0.60 metres high, featuring incised figures indicating that it is 20 miles to Newcastle.
