Description

MIDDLESBROUGH PARK ROAD NORTH, NZ 41 NE (4919) north side. 3/68 Gates, gatepiers and flanking walls at entrance to Nazareth House. G.V. II Gates, gatepiers and short flanking screen walls, 1905 by E. Goldie (London). Iron gates, red brick piers and walls with painted stone dressings. 2-leaf gates have scrolled lockrails, turned middle and outer verticals with water leaves and waisted obelisk finials, curved top rail and scrolled mock overthow. Piers have chamfered plinths, bands inscribed: "NAZARETH" (left) and "HOUSE" (right), below heavily-moulded cornices and ball-and-stem finials. Walls have flat copings. Round-headed, panelled door in right wall. Included for group value. Walls and railings adjoining at left and right are not of special interest.
