Description
This late 19th-century limekiln is located 140 metres east of Limekiln Bank Cottage. It is constructed from squared stone with yellow brick arches and features a large two-cell kiln that is built partly into the bankside. The kiln has corbelled semi-domed structures under segmental arches, with flat rear walls, each containing three small segmental-arched pots. The flanking retaining walls include a right wall that breaks forward and a buttressed left wall that is canted in plan. This limekiln is noted for being an unaltered, though late, example of its kind.
