Description
The Bishopton War Memorial is located on a green area to the west of the Church of St Peter, which is also listed as Grade II. This memorial is made of Cornish granite and features a Celtic cross that rises from a tapered, square plinth, which is set on a square base with three steps.
The main dedicatory inscription on the front of the plinth states: "IN PROUD MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918." The names of 14 individuals who died in the First World War are listed on the side faces, while the rear of the memorial includes a dedication for the Second World War that reads: "AND OF THE FOLLOWING WHO DIED IN THE WORLD WAR 1939 – 1945." This dedication includes two names.
