Description
This is a former farmhouse, now a private house, with an adjoining farm building on its right return. The main house dates from the early 18th century, with additions from the 19th century; the farm building is early 19th century.
The house is constructed of handmade brick in an irregular bond; the front elevation is rendered with incised detailing. It has a roof of ridged concrete tiles and brick chimney stacks which are pebble-dashed. The farm building has a pantiled roof.
The two-storey, five-bay house has a six-panel door with a three-pane overlight, set within a moulded wooden doorcase, located to the left of the centre. It features mid-20th century cross casement windows, a small six-pane sash window at the first floor on the left, and a fire insurance mark above the door. The roof is steeply pitched with a right end stack and two ridge stacks. The two-storey, two-bay farm building has a tall elliptical archway with a raised keystone on the left, and a partly-glazed hit-and-miss window with a boarded opening above it to the right. It also has a steeply-pitched roof.
A two-storey stair wing on the rear of the house has a tumbled-in brick gable and is flanked by 19th-century outshuts.
Inside, the cut-string dogleg staircase has two turned balusters per tread and a ramped, moulded handrail; a first-floor bedroom contains a panelled end wall with a moulded wooden fireplace flanked by six-panel cupboard doors and a dentil cornice.
A 20th-century brick addition on the rear of the farm building is not considered to be of special interest.
