Description

Manor Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse with 19th-century window replacements. It is located in Bishopton. The building is constructed of handmade brick in an English garden wall bond (five bricks long with one brick as a spacer), with a ridged concrete tile roof and old brick chimney stacks. It has a T-shaped plan, consisting of a main block and a long wing set at right angles to the centre rear.

The two-storey street facade has one bay flanked by two bays. The bays on either end are emphasised by substantial brick pilasters incorporating bands that echo the sills of original window openings; the right-hand bay retains its original sill band. The main entrance is a four-panel door with a five-pane overlight, set beneath a rubbed-brick flat arch in the right bay of the central two-bay section. Above the door are two small, blocked lunettes. Other windows have been replaced with sashes, featuring projecting stone sills and rubbed-brick flat arches. The roof is steeply pitched with swept eaves, and there are ridge and right-end chimney stacks. Corniced strings with modillions decorate both storeys of the right return. The rear elevation has altered openings and dentilled bands between the storeys and at the eaves.

The two-storey, four-bay rear wing also has altered openings and a dentilled band between the storeys; the rear gable displays blocked pigeon holes above a corniced ledge. A 20th-century farm building is located on the left return, and 20th-century additions to the rear and wing are not considered significant.
