Description

St John's House is a house dating from around 1840, located on the west side of Bishopton High Street. It is constructed of brick in an English garden wall bond pattern (five bricks wide with a single brick header), with a roof covered in concrete pantiles. The brick chimney stacks have been rebuilt.

The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance features a renewed six-panel door set within an open-pedimented doorcase, likely added around 1970. The original sixteen-pane sash windows have been replaced but retain stone wedge lintels and projecting sills. The roof has renewed gable copings. Chimneys are located at each end of the building. A round-arched window illuminates the stairwell at the rear. Rear additions do not contribute to the building's special architectural interest. The building is included on the heritage list for its group value, complementing other nearby buildings.
