Description
Yohn House is a combined house and cottage located in Middleton St. George, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century for the house and mid-19th century for the cottage. The building features Flemish-bond brickwork and pantiled roofs, with brick chimney stacks.
The house is two storeys high and has three bays. It has a central six-panel door with a four-pane overlight, set within a doorcase that includes ribbed pilasters and consoles. On either side of the door are canted bay windows, each containing 12-pane sash windows. Above, there are two more 12-pane sashes with late 20th century external shutters. The roof has brick verges and end stacks. The right side of the house displays a nine-pane round-arched window with radial glazing in the head, along with a 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash window in the attic.
The single-storey cottage on the right features a six-panel door with an overlight, and to the left, there is a 12-pane sash window with a projecting sill, a segmental head, and late 20th century external shutters. The cottage has a low-pitched roof. No. 23 is included for group value.
