Description
The structure consists of two arched stone doorways located in the garden to the left of No. 64, known as Mown Meadows. These doorways date from the early 13th century and were originally part of the Bishop's Palace at Feethams in Darlington. They were removed by Mr. Richard Luck and re-erected in their current position in 1870. The doorways are made of dressed sandstone. The front doorway features a pointed arch with two orders: the outer order is hollow-chamfered and has a hoodmould, while the inner order is keeled. The jambs alternate and have a rebate, and the arch's intrados is stabilized by an iron frame. The second arch, located approximately 3.0 meters behind the front arch, has chamfered, rebated alternating jambs and a round-arched head. This second arch may be a composite structure made from various fragments.
