Description
The Horn headstone, located 5 metres south of the Church of St. Romald, is a large sandstone headstone dating from 1798. It commemorates Johnathon Horn of Brisco and his family. The headstone features a shaped top and a recessed circular panel that displays a relief of a draped urn. The reverse side is inscribed with a tribute: "IN TOKEN of esteem and Gratitude to an affectionate Father, this stone is erected to the Memory of the said JOHNATHON HORN, who by the innate vigour of his Genius improved by unwearied Application, acquired a Most extensive knowledge of the MATHEMATICS. His heart was endowed with every social and Manly virtue, and adorned with those qualities, which constitute an amiable character."
