Description
23 Market Place is a former house, now part of a restaurant, dating from the late 17th century with 19th-century alterations. The building features pebble-dash render with a painted plinth and dressings. It has a concrete tile roof with brick and render chimneys. The structure is three storeys high and has three windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a plain overlight, set within a doorcase that has narrow pilasters and a bracketed cornice. The outer bays on the ground and first floors have renewed glazing in three-light windows, while there is a single window above the door and small windows on the second floor, which are set against the eaves and consist of two, one, and two lights, all in plain reveals. The building has floor bands and a steeply pitched roof with stone gable coping on moulded kneelers, featuring end chimneys—one rendered and the other in brick.
