Description
22 Market Place is a former house that has been subdivided into three separate residences. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th century. The building features painted render on rubble with painted ashlar dressings, and the right return gable is made of thin bricks. It has a Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings and brick chimneys.
The structure is two storeys high with basements and has five windows across its façade. The 19th-century doors are located at the center of the first two bays, to the left of the next wider bay, and to the left of the next two wide bays. Each door has four panels with studded surrounds and plain overlights, set within doorcases that have narrow pilasters and scroll-bracketed cornice hoods.
There are cellar openings that rise from below the pavement under the second window and to the right of the third window, featuring stone mullions and chamfered surrounds. The windows have projecting stone sills and painted narrow architraves, with 4-pane sashes that have flat-pointed heads. The ground floor has two windows for the first house and one for the other two houses, while the first floor has a 2:1:2 window arrangement.
The steeply pitched roof has stone gable copings on moulded kneelers and features three gabled dormers with vertical glazing bars to horizontal sliding sashes. The flat stone gable coping extends over shaped kneelers, and there are three tall ridge chimneys.
