Description
Bridge End House and Bridge End Cottage is a house that has been subdivided, dating from the mid-18th century, with nearly contemporary outshuts on the east and north sides, and an early 19th-century rear wing. The building is constructed of rubble with tooled quoins and dressings, while the main block is rendered and whitewashed. It features a Welsh slate roof with brick stacks.
The main block is three storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. It has raised quoins and a central flush-panelled door with a margined overlight, set in a raised alternating-block surround. Above the door, there is a 12-pane sash window and a 6-pane sash window on the second floor. The flanking bays contain tripartite sash windows on the lower floors and Diocletian windows above. All windows are framed in raised stone surrounds. The roof is hipped and has two large stacks on the rear slope, one corniced and the other rebuilt, along with a corniced lateral stack on the left. The end of the outshut on the left features ground and first-floor 12-pane sashes in raised stone surrounds.
The left return of the building displays a two-panel door in an alternating-block surround, with an 8-pane sash window above. The right return features a two-storey canted bay with a French window, 12-pane sashes, and a pyramidal roof, along with additional 12-pane sashes in the outshut and rear wing to the right.
