Description

No. 48 Market Place is a former house, later used as council offices, dating from the late 17th century with some alterations. The building features painted render and a pantiled roof with a brick chimney. It has two storeys and two windows. On the left side, there is a half-glazed door set in plain reveals. To the right of the door, there is a full-height canted bay window with renewed fixed lights, and beyond that, a two-light window on each floor with 8-pane horizontal sliding sashes. The roof extends over the bay window and has a tall renewed brick chimney at the centre ridge. There is also a narrow right pent offshoot that is one high storey.
