Description
This building, located at 2 Church Street, is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a concrete tiled roof with stone gable copings and brick chimneys.
The exterior consists of two storeys with a three-window range, along with a single storey that has a two-window range. The entrance is a renewed door set back to the left of the single-storey section, accompanied by two renewed sash windows with glazing bars to the right. The two-storey section has 20th-century casement windows, with a three-light window on the ground floor framed by large blocks, likely added to raise the height of the windows, set on plain stone jambs, with flush stone sills and lintels. There is a single casement window at the right end. On the first floor, two-light casements sit above the three-light ground-floor windows, with similar surrounds, and a single light window has been inserted to the right of the first. The two-storey section has stone chimneys at the left end and a brick chimney at the right end, while the single-storey section features a tall brick chimney at its right end. The left return gable facing High Street includes a two-light window set in a chamfered stone square surround, with a curved kneeler at the front. The interior has not been inspected.
