Description

145 and 145B High Street is a house and cottage dating from the late 18th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from coursed squared sandstone featuring herringbone tooling and has ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and has stone gable copings and stone chimneys.

The exterior is two storeys high and features a three-window range. The cottage on the left has a renewed door in the second bay, which includes an overlight and cornice, along with a corniced canted bay window. Two sashes have projecting painted stone sills and stone lintels at the eaves, with the windows being 20th-century sashes that have either two or four panes. The three-bay house on the right has a central six-panel door with an overlight beneath a stone lintel that features a long keystone spanning two courses. Above the door is a sash window, with full-height corniced canted bays on either side, all containing four-pane sashes. The roof includes stone gable copings and end chimneys, as well as intermediate stone ridge chimneys with plinths. The interior has not been inspected.
