Description

Corry Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. It is constructed from squared stone with stone dressings, featuring a renewed slate roof and rebuilt stone chimneys. The building has two storeys and two windows. On the right side, there are large roughly-shaped quoins and a fragment of a boulder plinth, while the left side has smaller squared quoins. The 19th-century window surrounds are tooled, with a central set of replaced French windows and side lights, along with flanking replaced casements. The eaves are raised, and the roof includes a stack at the right end. There is also a boulder plinth on the right return and a two-storey gabled wing from the 19th century at the rear right. Inside, there is a large ground-floor room with adzed ceiling beams, some of which have chamfers and run-out stops. The upper structure features three pairs of adzed upper crucks made from heavy timber with halved and pegged collars. A rebuilt single-storey outshut at the rear is not of special interest.
