Description
The farm buildings at Wydon Eals Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, now serve as loose-boxes and storage. Constructed from coursed and squared rubble with dressings, the shelter shed features a Welsh slate roof, while the other buildings have corrugated-asbestos roofs. These structures enclose three sides of a large square-plan farmyard.
The south range, which is two stories high and has two bays, is located on the west return of the farmhouse. It includes a blocked doorway, two blocked windows under the eaves, and a roof that is hipped at the west. The west range is also two stories and consists of eight bays, featuring a double row of breathers, a tall elliptical archway, and a 20th-century opening on the outer face. It has scattered breathers, two doorways with alternating jambs, and an external stone stairway facing the yard, with a roof that is hipped at the north.
The north range consists of two builds: a two-story, three-bay shelter shed with a loft above, and a single-story, two-bay hemmel on the south side. The shelter shed has two elliptical arches, a doorway, and an external stone stairway on the ground floor facing the yard, along with a boarded door and two square openings above, topped by a low-pitched roof. The hemmel features two wide segmental arches facing the yard. These buildings are included for their group value.
