Description

41 Old Elvet is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a Welsh slate roof with rendered stacks. The building has three storeys and four windows. In the second bay from the right, there is a six-panel door set within a stone architrave, topped by a wide, moulded cornice hood. The windows are late 19th-century sash types, framed in wooden architraves with stone sills. On the first floor, two central windows have been replaced by a late 19th-century canted oriel bay, which also has similar sash windows. The exterior includes three brick floor strings and large stacks located behind the ridge. There is a coal chute for the cellar.

Inside, the property is reported to have an open-string dogleg staircase, featuring a ramped handrail supported by two turned balusters per tread, with decorated tread ends on the lower flights.
