Description
Collingwood is a house with a retaining wall to the left, dating from the late 18th century. The front is made of dressed sandstone, while the sides and rear are constructed from coursed rubble, with some brick infill on the rear wings. It features stone-flagged roofs and stone chimney stacks, and has a reversed U-plan, with the left return built partly into the bankside.
The house is three storeys high and has three symmetrical bays, with tooled quoins. A central 20th-century gabled stone porch has a partly-glazed door. The windows are 12-pane sashes with Gothick glazing and deep reveals, featuring Tudor-arched heads with flush voussoirs and projecting chamfered sills. The roof has coped gables and shaped kneelers, with stepped end stacks that have top bands. There is a blocked doorway on the two-storey left return, framed by a roll-moulded Tudor-arched surround. A central rear stair window has a 20-pane sash with Gothick glazing, set in a round-arched surround with a projecting keystone and impost blocks. The rear has two gabled wings with altered openings.
To the left of the main front, there is a short section of tall flat-coped retaining wall, which includes a stone stairway. The 20th-century porches at the front and on the left return are not considered of special interest.
