Description
The former church, known as a chapel of ease, dates from the late 18th century and has been replaced by the later parish church of Holy Trinity. It is constructed from irregular courses of sandstone ashlar, featuring projecting quoins and ashlar dressings. At the time of the survey, the building was roofless.
The structure consists of a 3-bay nave and a 3-bay chancel, which includes a north vestry. Both the nave and chancel have plain stone surrounds with keyed detailing, impost blocks, and a round-headed central door flanked by windows. The east window is designed in a Venetian style. Curved kneelers support the gable copings, which are now in ruins.
Inside, the stone walls are partially plastered. There are ruined monuments on the walls, including a well-carved high-relief panel depicting three cherubs' heads, asymmetrically arranged and flanked by wide scroll brackets that support a cornice, likely beneath a former memorial panel. Additionally, there is a detached fragment of dentilled moulding from the same memorial.
At the time of the survey, the church was derelict, with a large tree growing in the nave.
